Team work really does make the dream work!
When starting The Willow Tree Forest School, I had one stipulation for staff, they had to get the core values of what we do, and in comes Lauren and Martine!
The universe brought me these two incredible humans to help deliver my vision to West Sussex. They both embody the values of The Willow Tree and are shining examples for our participants to learn from. Each has an incredible set of skills and both add something special to each session.
I could not be prouder to support and champion these wonderful women.
Thank you Lauren and Martine for making my vision come true!
My Name is Laura Payne and I am the founder of
The Willow Tree Forest School.
My passion lies in creating a nurturing space where females can thrive, learn, and discover their inner strength through the magic of the natural world.
I am a Level 3 qualified Forest School practitioner with blended paediatric and adult outdoor first aid training.
I have a level 2 NVQ in understanding children and young peoples mental health as well as level 2 NVQ in counselling skills. I also hold various safeguarding qualifications issued by West Sussex County Council and I am the company's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL level 3 qualified) .
I invite you to join us on a journey of exploration, empowerment, and joyful learning amidst the wonders of the forest.
Together, we'll nurture a generation of females who embrace their individuality, thrive in nature, and hold the keys to a bright and flourishing future.
Hi there! I’m Martine, my main focus for the willow tree is bringing a diverse background to our forest school.
I previously worked at a chiropractic clinic, honing my understanding of holistic well-being. Alongside my professional journey, my personal life is enriched by a wonderful husband, an incredible toddler daughter, a lively Border Terrier dog, and two feline companions. This blend of professional expertise and a thriving family life fuels my commitment to creating a nurturing and holistic environment at our forest school. I look forward to intertwining my experiences and passions to shape a space where every person can flourish, surrounded by the enchantment of nature and the warmth of our forest community.
I bring a passion for connecting everyone with nature as I embark on this adventure with The Willow Tree. With a background rooted in hobbies like foraging, immersing myself in the great outdoors, and exploring the wonders of mycology (all things Mushrooms) I aim to cultivate an environment where curiosity flourishes. My love for the intricate world of fungi aligns seamlessly with the holistic approach of our forest school, fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world. Through engaging activities and a commitment to outdoor learning, I aspire to empower everyone to develop a strong connection with nature, laying the foundation for environmental stewardship. Together, let's embark on a journey of discovery and growth within the enchanting embrace of the grounds at The Green Door Centre and beyond!!
In addition to my nature-centric focus, I'm dedicated to enriching the forest school experience through hands-on crafts using natural materials alongside regularly accessible resources. By integrating creative expression with the treasures nature provides, we not only cultivate artistic skills but also foster a deeper connection to the environment. Creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere for the everyone is paramount to me. I am committed to instilling valuable tools in their mental toolbox, equipping them to navigate life's challenges with resilience and a sense of inner strength. Together, we'll build a supportive community within the forest, where every girl can blossom into her unique and empowered self.
"Embrace the whispers of the forest, where curiosity grows, creativity blossoms, and strength intertwines with the beauty of nature”
Hi, my name is Lauren.
I am an associate practitioner working alongside Laura and Martine at The Willow Tree Forest School.
I am passionate about self-care and finding holistic practices to support my health and wellbeing. These include homeopathy, using essential oils, cold water therapy, exercise and journaling.
I particularly enjoy paddle boarding, surfing, weightlifting, practicing yoga, hiking, baking sourdough and cooking for my family and friends.
Another of my passions is foraging. I love to create potions and remedies from the garden, beach and forest, such as dandelion honey, daisy healing balm, elderberry syrup, herbal teas and herbal bath infusions.
I am so lucky to be involved with The Willow Tree Forest School! I wholeheartedly believe in things happening for a reason and this feels like a beautiful journey for us to empower, support, encourage and bring a community of likeminded girls and women together. Together we are stronger!
I also have a wonderful daughter of my own, she is twelve now and in her second year of high school. I have gained first-hand experience from myself and her of how important community and self-care is. We try to put these practices into place in our daily lives in the form of discussions and shared experiences. We hug, we read together, we laugh, we look after each other, we meet with friends, family and we listen to our bodies and needs.
For me working with Laura and Martine is a dream come true! We all bring something different to the school and we are very passionate and feel very proud to be able to help girls young girls who need a space to breathe, stretch, craft, discuss topics and just be themselves, up to women who are in search of a safe space to talk, move, create and be supported through this confusing time.
I very much look forward to meeting you or your girls and starting on this journey together.
I am that girl, you are that girl, together we can change the world.
